        <p>The procedure of lecturing on fluid kinematics in general hydraulics is considered in the article. Some features of LaGrange’s and Euler’s approaches to fluid mechanics are illustrated. The expression for substantial derivative from consideration of fluid particle motion using Euler’s approachis developed. It is pointed out that interpretation of substantial derivative as a total one is incorrect</p>
