The existing article "Vaulted construction of historic buildings" in the magazine "Construction of unique buildings and structures" made me interested in vaulted structures topic. They are designed and used by mankind since ancient times, but there are still no developed criteria for their strength and stability, and existing calculation methods are very approximate. Besides, I was attracted by the the variety of types and shapes of vaulted structures. These reasons led me to develop the theme proposed by the author and complement the classification of this type of structures. I have studied variable materials and compiled a detailed classification of the vaulted structures in all their diversity.
