Geosynthetic materials find new application areas in civil engineering. One of the main problems of using geosynthetic materials is their low resistance to mechanical damage during installation. This directly effect on the determination of their long-term strength due to the introduction of reduction factors. In this paper, the change in the mechanical properties of various types of geosynthetic materials during installation, depending on the type of soil, is considered. The analysis allows develop acceptable reduction factors for various types of geosynthetic materials.
